High Council for Islamic Affairs conference issues recommendations

The 10th annual conference of the High Council for Islamic Affairs condemned in its recommendations and resolutions the Serbian assault on the Moslems in Kosovo and called the international community to concentrate its efforts to suppress this assault and enable the people of Kosovo to assume their right to self-determination.

At the conclusion of its works, the conference called on Sunday on all Islamic countries to stand by the legal rights of the Palestinian people to self-determination and establish an independent state on their land, denounce Israeli practices attacking the holy places and the obstinate refusal of the Israeli government to implement the international resolutions and agreements reached in Madrid and Oslo, and confirm the necessity of the Islamic countries' and peoples' abidance with Jerusalem as the capital of Palestinian state.

The conference also called on the international community to exert efforts to settle the problem of Kashmir within the resolutions of the Organization of the Islamic Conference and international resolutions.

The conference also approved and praised the international efforts exerted within the scope of religion, confirming the importance of proper ethics in the 21st century to protect humanity from superficiality, materialism and conceit. The conference urged the Islamic countries to take the necessary steps to regulate the methods of helping their people in suppress the assault within the UN's charter.

It also recommended that the international community recognized the need to end the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction all over the world without exceptions and called for liberating the Islamic countries to avoid the dangers presented by of free market economies.

It urged the Moslems to draw out new formulas for investment and develop forms of economic cooperation with one another and the other world countries.
