Al Jawf shiekhs denounce Yemeni vandalism
Yemen, Local, 7/7/1998
Ten sheikhs from Al Jawf governorate presented messages to Yemeni President Ali Abdallah Saleh in which they confirmed their support for the state, and denounced acts of sabotage and attacks on security forces and army soldiers.
ArabicNews.com obtained copies of messages presented by sheikhs and nobles in the Al Jawf tribes (170 km northeast of Sanaa) to the Yemeni president in which they confirmed that they are opposed to recent actions that lead to confrontations and attacks against state corporations, describing those who carried out these acts as cowards, mercenaries, and destroyers.
These messages coincide at the time in which the Yemeni government is concentrating its efforts to pursue those who have carried out the recent acts of violence.
The governorate of Al Jawf has viewed clashes between tribesmen and army and security forces during protests that took place in Yemen after the government's resolution to remove their price support from petroleum, petroleum derivatives and other goods.
Meanwhile, another explosion has taken place near Yemeni constructions in Aden harbor, yet no details were given about this explosion.
