Morocco and Libya sign a series of cooperation accords

Morocco and Libya signed in Rabat Thursday a series of cooperation accords in industry, trade, tourism and agriculture at the end of the 3rd session of their joint high cooperation commission.
The commission also signed a cooperation agreement in security issues and initialled a memo of understanding calling for the establishment of a free trade zone.
The joint commission agreed to step up coordination between the two countries in the fields of education, maritime transports, customs, justice, administration and social affairs.In its final communique, the commission called for the reinforcement of contacts between the Moroccan and Libyan private sectors to rev up trade exchanges and the flow of investments, Map reported.
The commission, which was set up in 1990, stressed the need to carry on efforts to enhance cooperation ties mainly in the fields of textile, leather industry, ready-to-wear garments, engineering, fertilizers, livestock breeding, and pharmaceuticals.
The Moroccan-Libyan commission holds regular meetings alternately in Morocco and Libya to follow up joint cooperation actions and identify the sectors needing further coordination.
Morocco and Libya are members of the Arab Maghreb Union, which also groups Tunisia, Algeria and Mauritania.
