Battles in south Sudan.
Sudan, Military, 7/3/1998
A statement issued by rebel forces in southern Sudan said a wide-ranging attack by governmental forces in the Blue Nile province of southern Sudan was repulsed. The statement said major losses were inflicted on the governmental forces, which included 300 killed and more than 500 injured, and 12 troops taken captive and quantities of ammunition, supplies and weapons were seized.
