Saudi Arabia reiterates peace principles
Saudi Arabia, Politics, 6/30/1998
Saudi Arabia has stressed its firm stand towards the cause of Palestine and the Middle East peace process providing for establishing just and comprehensive peace which ensures the restoration of the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people and the liberation of the Golan Heights and south Lebanon from Israeli aggression.
In an inaugural speech for the second year of the Saudi Shoura Council's second session at al-Salam palace in Jeddah, Saudi King Fahd Bin Abdul Aziz expressed regret for the suspension of all efforts to "establish peace, restore the Palestinian rights including Jerusalem and to settle the Palestinian question and liberate the Syrian Golan and South Lebanon from Israeli occupation."
King Fahd called upon all peace loving forces in the world to side with the Arab efforts to establish a just and lasting peace that can ensure the rights of the Palestinian people to establish their own independent state.
He, in this respect, highlighted resolutions so far adopted by the Arab League conferences, the Organization of the Islamic Conference and the Gulf Cooperation Council with sincere desire to establish a just and comprehensive peace in the region.
