Joint Jordanian-Algerian business council set up
Jordan-Algeria, Economics, 6/29/1998

Jordan and Algeria announced the formation of a joint Jordanian-Algerian business council that will include several private-sector corporations in the two states.

The joint committee was established during talks between Jordanian Minister of Industry and Trade Hani Mulki and his Algerian counterpart, Abdelmadjid Menasra.

The Jordanian Institution for Standards and Metrology and the Algerian Institute for Metrology also signed an agreement for technical and scientific cooperation covering the exchange of experts and trainees involved in standards technologies.

The agreement was concluded in implementation of recommendations passed by the Jordanian-Algerian higher committee during its recent meeting in Algiers.

Under the agreement, the two countries will work together for mutual recognition of the standards certificates issued by either country.

The agreement calls for unifying standards applicable to goods exchanged between the two Arab states.
