US regrets investigation results over Khobar explosion
Saudi Arabia-USA, Politics, 6/27/1998

The US defense department has expressed regret over investigations relating to the explosion which killed 19 members of the US military at Khobar Towers in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia.

The spokesman for the US Defense department, speaking on Friday, the second anniversary of the blast, said: "there's frustration in this government with the inability to bring these killers to justice."

Meanwhile, the US New York Times noted in a June 21 article that US investigations in the said explosion did not realize progress due to disputes with Saudi officials.

On Thursday, Saudi Deputy Minister of the Interior Prince Hamad Bin Abdul Aziz stated that the explosion was carried out by Saudis, who were supported by foreign elements. But he did not identify what foreign states may have been involved, noting that citizens will be acquainted with the details of the investigation when it is completed.
