First Arab tourism ministers conference

Under the patronage of Syrian President Hafez al-Assad Damascus will host on June 29 to 30 the first conference of the council of the Arab tourism ministers.

The Syrian President will be represented by Premier al-Zou'bi. Arab League Arab League Secretary General Esmat Abdul Meguid will attend the conference. In press statements Syrian tourism minister Danhu Dawoud said among the main issues the conference will discuss means of strengthening and boosting inter-Arab tourism as well as work paper of the Egyptian chambers of industry federation, the Iraqi commission work paper and the Arab tourism council work plan until the year 2000.

The minister continued the conference will also discuss key issues pertaining to promotion of tourism investment and marketing as well the role played by tourism media and its role in boosting inter-Arab tourism. The ministers, he added, will also discuss means of improving tourism services in the Arab states.

Among the participating Arab countries, he noted are, Egypt, Jordan, Syria, Mauritania, Morocco, Tunisia, Algiers, Libya, Sudan, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain, Oman, Yemen, Lebanon, the United Arab Emirates UAE, Iraq, Somalia, Kuwait and the AL's general Secretariat.
