Foreign sides helped Saudis in Khobar explosion
Saudi Arabia-USA, Politics, 6/26/1998

The Saudi deputy minister of the interior, Prince Ahmad Bin Abdul al-Aziz said on Thursday that the Khobar explosion, which targeted US soldiers, was carried out by Saudis but "other sides gave them support." However the Saudi deputy minister refrained to reveal their identity.

The Saudi News Agency said, "Citizens will be briefed on details of the incident after investigations are completed." A statement made by the Saudi Minister of the Interior Prince Nayef Bin Abdul al-Aziz on May 21 said that although there may be a foreign link to some terrorist organizations in Islamic countries, "it is a difficult matter to present a material evidence for that."

Some 19 US military men where killed in the attack, which was carried out against the Khobar Towers housing facility near al-Zahran air base in eastern Saudi Arabia. Thursday was the second anniversary of the bombing.
