Moroccan party asks for strengthening public liberties

Abdul-Elah Ben, the deputy secretary-general for the party of the Moroccan Popular Constitutional Democratic Movement party asked the Moroccan government to work in order to strengthen liberties in the country, referring to his opposition to the house arrest to which Abdul Salam Yassin, the leader of the prohibited Charity and Justice Party, is subjected.
He said that his party rejects violence and seeks discussion to solve the problems facing the country in not an Islamic one yet it presents legality out of Islamic reference".
He added that his party, which won nine seats in the deputies' council, decided not to join the opposition against the government, but to give it a chance to achieve the Moroccan people's ambitions, especially in areas that do not require financial expenditures such as maintaining moral values and expanding liberties.
He also said that his party will not support the government if its adopts actions that contradict with Islam or any areas that do not serve the public interest.
