Egyptian - Turkish meeting today

The Egyptian - Turkish political committee is convening its first meeting in Ankara today to examine international and regional issues concerning security and stability in the Middle East.

Convening this committee, comes as an implementation of the agreement of reached by Egyptian Foreign Minister Amr Moussa and his Turkish counterpart Ismail Cem during Cem's visit to Cairo in February.

The committee is arranging the coordination machinism and political consultations for solving issues of dispute on the basis of joint interests.

Ambassador Fathi El-Shazeli, the Egyptain assistant foreign minister for European affairs will head the Egyptian delegation to the committee, and ambassador Oger Zeyal, the political advisor in the Turkish Foreign Ministry, will head his country's delegation.

Egypt strongly objects to the Turkish - Israeli cooperation as it obstructs achieving progress in Arab - Turkish relations.
