Syria-Tunisia, Economics, 6/23/1998

A round of official talks was held on Monday in Damascus between the Syrian and Tunisian delegations chaired by Syrian Foreign Minister Farouk al-Sharaa and the Tunisian Minister of Foreign Affairs Saeed Bin Mustafa. Talks dealt with Arab conditions, the latest developments concerning the Middle East peace process and the deadlock it has reached.

Also, an agreement on preventing double taxation was signed between Syria and Tunisia by Syrian Finance minister Khaled al-Maheyni and the Tunisian minister.

In a statement to SANA al-Maheyni said the agreement signed on double taxation was one of the main elements for encouraging investment and trade exchange between the two countries.
