Libyan messages to Arab leaders
Libya, Politics, 6/22/1998

Libyan leader Col. Moammar Gaddafi stressed that his relations with King Hussein of Jordan are strong despite political disputes, as Libyan delegates arrived in Egypt, Algeria and Morocco, to convey messages to their leaders from Gaddafi.

In a televised interview broadcast on Saturday by Jordanian TV, Gaddafi noted several agreements which have been signed between the two countries, in remarks to agreements last week between the two countries in Tripoli. Jordan recently adopted a stand in support of Libya concerning the Lockerbie crisis when it announced that King Hussein will make special efforts with US and the UK to close the file of Lockerbie and lift the embargo imposed on Libya.

Gaddafi extended an invitation to King Hussein -- being the representative of the Hashamite family -- to visit Libya and take part in the prayers on prophet Muhammad's birthday on July 6.
