Arafat agrees to hold Palestinian national discussion in Cairo
Palestine, Politics, 6/20/1998
Palestinian President Yasser Arafat agreed to a request presented by the People's Front for the Liberation of Palestine under the chairmanship of George Habash and by Nayef Hawatme's Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine, calling for a conference to discuss the current developments on the Palestinian track and the total Palestinian situation.
The two fronts suggested convening the conference, whose date was not yet determined, in Cairo.
Arafat informed the officials in the two fronts of his approval of convening this conference and that he intends to make communications with the Egyptian leadership to guarantee the approval of Cairo to host this conference.
Arafat headed yesterday in the West Bank city of Nablus the weekly meeting of the Palestinian leadership, then a meeting held by the executive committee of the Palestinian Liberation Organization, during which it reviewed the results of consultations held last week with Palestinian factions and personalities to form the new government.
