Lebanese partnership with European Union under talks
Lebanon-European Union, Economics, 6/20/1998

The secretary general of the Lebanese Foreign Ministry, Zafer El-Hassan, reviewed on Thursday the obstacles facing the new partnership agreement between Lebanon and the European Union and methods of removing these obstacles.

He tackled these obstacles with the manager of European Commission Beetle Zenkel accompanied by a delegation, and in the presence of the European Union's deputy in Lebanon, Demiterie Korkolmaba.

El-Hassan said there are some points still under negotiation, but he said the most important thing is good intentions and political management to reach an agreement between the two parties.

During the coming months, Hassan said, "We will be able to remove underlying obstacles in the agricultural field and end customs duties."

Zenkel described the talks as "good" and expressed his hope that the agreement can be signed in the near future.
