Boradi elected Tunisian lawyers' chief

Nearly 2,000 Tunisian lawyers elected the independent lawyer Abdul Galil Boradi as the new chief of the lawyers' syndicate succeeding Abdul-Wahab El-Bahi, who served two terms in the post over the past six years.
Boradi, who is highly respected by the Tunisian government and in judicial circles, obtained 790 votes while his rival Bashir El-Said obtained 630 and five other rivals split the remaining less.
The ruling Democratic Constitution Assembly supported Boradi in the second period in the elections, while representatives of the opposition trends backed Bashir El-Said, which won El-Said many votes, as he finished in second place.
