Iraq recognizes borders with Kuwait

The chairman of the UN Security Council, Antonio Muniro, on Tuesday received a message from Iraqi Foreign Minister Muhammad Saeed al-Sahaf in which Iraq renewed recognition of its borders with Kuwait as approved by the UN Security Council in 1993.
Iraq's ambassador to the UN, Nizar Hamdoun, who delivered the message on Monday told journalists that he responded to the request of the UN Security Council regarding statements made by Iraqi Vice-President Taha Yassin Ramadan when he was in Morocco, concerning the question of borders between Iraq and Kuwait.
Hamdoun added that he delivered the message of recognition of the Kuwaiti borders to reiterate "our recognition of the borders according to UN Security Council resolution no. 833."
