Lebanese, Israeli forces trade off attacks in Sujoud area
Lebanon-Israel, Military, 6/16/1998
Lebanese resistance forces on Monday attacked by machine-guns and rockets an Israeli military position in the Sujoud area in the occupied part of south Lebanon. In a statement, the resistance said that the Israeli position received direct hits.
Meanwhile, the Israeli forces shelled with heavy artillery Mlita hill, al-Rafe' mountain, al-Tasse river bed and Sujoud groves in al-Tuffah district. Lebanese security sources stated that the bombardment was accompanied by mopping-up operations carried out by Israeli forces against targeted areas.
Israeli warplanes flew at low altitudes over Nabatieh and al-Tuffah districts and carried out mock provocative raids while breaking the sound barriers over the two districts' airspace.
