Emir for cooperation between legislative, executive
Kuwait, Politics, 6/15/1998

Emir of Kuwait Sheikh Jaber al-Ahmad al-Sabah stressed his country's commitment to democracy manifested in a close cooperation between the legislative and executive authorities to ensure security and stability in Kuwait.

This was expressed on Sunday during Sheikh Jaber's meeting with the chairman of the Kuwaiti Nation's Council Ahmad Abdul Aziz al-Sadoun, the council's deputy speaker Talal al-Ayar and heads of legislative and financial committees in light of the tensions that prevailed last week between Kuwait's legislative and executive authorities.

Al-Sadoun expressed the Nation's Council's desire to exert all efforts to maintain cooperation and understanding with the government for the interest of Kuwait and its people.

This comes after strong disagreements between the two branches of government that was expected to result in a call to dissolve the National Council, something that avoided through the discussions of Saturday's meeting.
