Israeli shelling causes fire in olive grove

The Lebanese national resistance on Sunday attacked the Israeli military position at Tallet al-Radar in the western sector of south Lebanon, using machine-guns and rockets. In a statement, the resistance said it scored direct hits against the position.

Meanwhile, the Israeli artillery bombardment on Sunday of the area located between al-Hamra farm and Zouter al-Sharkia in south Lebanon caused fires in wheat fields and groves of olive trees. Lebanese civilians tried to put out the fires.

On Saturday the Israeli forces renewed attacks on areas adjacent to the occupied border strip of south Lebanon. Lebanese security sources reported that Israeli artillery batteries stationed at Teir Harfa bombed Majdal Zone and al-Mansouri districts.

In retaliation, Lebanese resistance fighters attacked Israeli positions in Sojoud and Beer Klab with rockets and machine-gun fire. The positions received direct hits, a statement released by resistance front said.

On Saturday morning Israeli gun-boats held a ship loaded with second hand cars for half an hour off Tyre. Lebanese security sources said that Israeli naval forces inspected the vessel before allowing it to call at the port.

Meanwhile, the Lebanese resistance on Saturday organized a burial ceremony for Muhammad Hussein Bashir in Beirut's southern suburb.
