Coup d'etat plot stopped in Sudan hours before taking place

Political sources stated yesterday that a coup d'etat plot in Sudan was halted hours before taking place.

The sources stated that the participants in the coup belong to an extreme wing of the ruling National Islamic Front and that the confession of one of the participants made a confession to that effect before the authorities.

The sources said the investigation revealed that the suspects planned to hold the coup d'etat after the ruling authority failed to apply Islamic legislation in the new constitution and backed off on continuing the struggle in the south.
