Course of Kuwaiti crisis to be terminated today
Kuwait, Politics, 6/13/1998

Kuwaiti Emir Sheikh Jabir al-Ahmed al-Sabah held today an expanded meeting of the government, that the head of the Nation's Council and his deputy will attend.

Sources said they expected that the meeting will conclude with a resolution to dissolve the parliament because of the difficulties in cooperation between the legislative and executive authorities in the country.

A parliamentary delegation comprised of 14 members, led by Nation's Council head Talal El-Eiad met with Sheikh Saad al-Abdallah al-Salim al-Sabah, the Kuwaiti crown prince and prime minister.

The deputies confirmed the readiness of the parliament for effective cooperation with the government and called for enhancing democratic work in the country.

A high-ranking ministerial source stated that it is now the council who is able to halt the deteriorating situation between the executive and legislative authorities,
adding that some members' practices have reached a point that leaves the government unable to cooperate with the council.
