Barak to support coalition with Netanyahu if he withdraws
Egypt-Israel, Politics, 6/13/1998
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met with the leader of the Israeli Labor Party Ehud Barak to discuss the developments and pressures placed on Israel to agree to a U.S. initiative for Israeli troop redeployment in the West Bank.
Israeli sources said that Prime Minister Netanyahu seeks to form a coalition government with the Labor Party. Barak said he will support Netanyahu in any future West Bank withdrawal he intends to carry out.
Netanyahu is trying to obtain the Labor Party's and Knesset's approval if he decides to withdraw from part of the West Bank.
An official source in the Labor Party told ArabicNews.com that Netanyahu and Barak discussed many issues but did not tackle the issue of forming a coalition government.
