Regional, Politics, 6/12/1998
The Egyptian Foreign Minister Amr Moussa reconfirmed that consultations and communications concerning the peace process are still ongoing.
He confirmed that there are no disputes between the Arab states in this regard, yet the current consultations are about the Arab position to be taken on the situation in the peace process and toward the increasing possibility of the U.S. initiative's failure.
Moussa said that the visit of Prince Saud al-Faisal, the Saudi foreign minister, to Egypt comes within these continued Arab communications.
Concerning discussions on the Egyptian - French initiative that calls for an international conference on the peace process, Moussa said that talk about this initiative has not stopped, stating that there were consultations on this matter with French Foreign Minister Hubert Vedrine and that communications are continuing between Egypt and France concerning this call.
Moussa stated that this conference is not in contradiction with the principals of the Madrid, Sharm or Oslo conferences.
