Libya denies Gaddafi exposed to assassination
Libya-Egypt, Politics, 6/12/1998

Libyan officials sources denied reports that Libyan President Moammar Gaddafi was slightly injured while surviving an attempted assassination 10 days ago.

Travelers coming from Libya across the border outlet of El-Saloum into Egypt reported yesterday that Gaddafi was slightly injured as a result of an assassination attempt to which he was exposed 10 days before.

Libyan and Egyptian travelers said that the attempt took place in Banghazi before the visit he was to pay to Egypt at the beginning of June.

Egyptian security sources revealed that individuals from Libyan security bodies left Marsa Matrouh, 500KM northwest of Cairo, suddenly for Libya on Monday, June 1 after which the Libyan officials announced the postponement of Gaddafi visit to Egypt.

Then the travelers from Libya said that the security bodies imposed strict measures at the entrance of Banghazi.
