Yemeni parliament calls for security for foreigners
Yemen, Politics, 6/12/1998
The Yemeni Deputies Council began yesterday to discuss the issue of the kidnapping of foreigners in Yemen and recent violence incidence, and the arrival of refugees in Yemen within a report presented by the defense and security committee, in which they tackled these issues and its effect on economic development.
The report also stated that the aspect of kidnapping is aimed at abusing Yemen and its great culture, where a number of deputies emphasized the necessity of the council taking a "quick and firm decision" to put an end to this aspect and confront the explosions of violence, examine its cause and produce solutions to it.
Then the members of the council "confirmed" the responsibility of the security bodies for the maintenance of security, stability, public systems and protecting Yemeni citizens and the nation from any violations of the law.
The council of deputies called for the Minister of Interior, a number of other ministers and officials on Monday to be present in the council to discuss these issues in public.
