Saudi Arabia refutes claims that its initiative failed to convene Arab summit
Saudi Arabia, Politics, 6/11/1998
The Saudi royal court in Jeddah on Tuesday night issued a statement in which it made clear the Saudi stances concerning reports by Arab and foreign media in that the recent Saudi move did not attain tangible progress towards convening the expected Arab summit.
The statement added that the recent Saudi moves towards "our brothers in Syria and Jordan have been pre-set, including in its agenda numerous bilateral, Arab, Islamic and international issues," adding that the initiative was not confined to the issue of the summit. It added that statements that the US asked Saudi Arabia to delay any Arab summit conference are "groundless."
