Pakistan for Middle East peace process talks
6/8/1998
Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif stressed the importance of resuming Middle East peace talks, reiterating his country's support for materializing a just and comprehensive Middle East peace.
In a statement to the United Arab Emirates UAE al-Itihad daily published on Sunday in Abu Dhabi, Sharif added that Pakistan was compelled to run nuclear tests like those carried out by India, which led to a strategic imbalance in southern Asia. Sharif added that his country insists on dealing with India in the sphere of strategic parity.
