Atomic Energy Head: Everybody knows how to make nuclear bombs
Regional, Politics, 6/8/1998
The general manager of the Arab Organization For Atomic Energy, Moahmoud Barakat, criticized yesterday the nuclear capabilities of Israel, saying that it creates an atmosphere of tension and instability in the whole region of the Middle East.
Barakat criticized the lack of concern shown by the great powers toward Israel's nuclear abilities and the opening of the nuclear arsenal before international inspection.
Then he said that the Arab states that are considered less developed need every chance at development, confirming at the same time that the nuclear bomb is not currently difficult to manufacture because the techniques are known to everybody. Barakat added that although Israel possesses nuclear warheads, it will not be able to destroy the Arab states from the ocean to the Gulf.
He also expressed his belief that Israel cannot use its nuclear weapons in its battle against the Arabs because the Arab states are greatly aware of its dangers.
