Syria: detainees release operation to continue

Syrian diplomatic sources told ArabicNews.com that the operations of releasing political detainees are continuing within the political leadership's adherence to national unity in Syria.

The sources said that the number of those released will reach 325 following on the footsteps of the release of some 235 detainees.

The release operations began two weeks ago. A group of 30 political prisoners whose freedom international human rights organizations called for was released.

The sources said that the release came according to the order of the Syrian president and was not due to foreign pressures from human rights organizations.
