Amman: No railway project between Irbid and Java
Jordan-Israel, Politics, 6/5/1998
Jordanian Minister of Transport and Communications Sami Qamwa has denied reports that his country agreed with Israel to set up a railway line linking Irbid, north of Amman with the Israeli port of Java, which overlooks the Mediterranean.
The Jordanian daily al-Rai quoted the Jordanian minister that the two countries did not have any "executive measures or any agreement aimed at erecting a railway between Irbid and Java."
The Israeli Infrastructure Ministry on Wednesday said that a project to establish a railway line between the two cities will be erected in the near future and the two sides are drawing "details to attract possible investors."
