One hundred Sudanese killed on the border with Ethiopia
Sudan, Military, 6/5/1998

Speaker of the Sudanese Parliament Hassan al-Turabi said at more than 100 Sudanese soldiers were killed in violent battles with rebel forces on Sudan's borders with Ethiopia.

Meantime, Deputy chairman of the defense committee at the Sudanese parliament Yassin Abdul Qader Ahmad denied news that the rebels were able to take control of the city of Yolo, North Karmouk on the border between the Blue Nile province and the Upper Nile province.

In a statement he made on Thursday Ahmad added the "outlaws did not achieve victory and could not seize the land during the attack in Yolo region."
