Syrian-Turkish negotiations to settle disputes
Syria-Turkey, Politics, 6/3/1998
Spokesman for the Turkish Foreign Ministry, Najati Otkan, said yesterday that official negotiations are underway between Syria and Turkey to settle outstanding disputes.
Meanwhile, Otkan also warned France against proceeding in recognition of Ottoman's crimes against the Armenians in 1915. He commented that France's recognition of a crime as such would have adverse consequences on relations between France and Turkey.
Replying to a question on a report written by US journalist Michael Gunter on a press meeting he held recently with Abdullah Ojlan, leader of the Kurdish Worker's Party (PKK) organization in Syria, Otkan said that what was written is not what actually happened.
