Hussein receives Pickering
Jordan-USA, Politics, 6/3/1998
Jordan and the US on Tuesday emphasized the need to advance the Middle East peace process. US Undersecretary of State Thomas Pickering held talks in Amman with King Hussein of Jordan and Jordan's Foreign Minister Jawad Anani on the stalled peace process.
"The US will continue its engagement in the peace process," Pickering told reporters.
Jordan called on the US to bridge the gaps between the Israeli and Palestinian governments, based on US initiative to advance the peace process. The call was made by King Hussein during his reception for Pickering. Hussein said that peace was the goal for all peoples of the region.
Following his meeting with Anani, Pickering said he hoped that everyone will honor the implementation of signed agreements.
