Eritrea wants Arab support in its crisis with Ethiopia
North Africa-Eritrea-Ethiopia, Politics, 6/2/1998

Eritrea began to implement a plan to win support for its position in its crisis with Ethiopia, as a high-ranking delegation headed by Mohammed Ahmed Mohammed, head of the local governments, is carrying messages from Eritrean President Assias Afworki to the leaders of Libya, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Egypt, in which he is sharing his country's position toward the border crisis that broke out in the middle of last month with Ethiopia.

African diplomatic sources believe that the travels of the Eritrean delegation to these countries is evidence of the failure of international and regional initiatives for solving the border dispute between Eritrea and Ethiopia.

The Eritrean president attacked the Ethiopian government as leading an information campaign against his country and calling on its people to demonstrate against Asmara.
