South African president postpones Algeria visit
Algeria-Morocco-South Africa, Politics, 6/2/1998
Nelson Mandela, the president of South Africa, postponed a formal visit that was scheduled to Algeria next week and will reschedule the visit later on.
In a statement, the spokesman of the South African presidency said that the decision to postpone the visit was due to problems relating to President Mandela's agenda.
Mandela paid a special five-day visit to Morocco last week.
Algerian sources said that Mandela is mediating between Morocco and Algeria in order to resolve accusations between them and to discuss the matters away from the media light.
The sources added that Mandela is currently discussing the beginning and revival of the Moroccan Union's activity, which was halted several years ago.
