Lebanese resistance men attack Israeli positions

The Lebanese resistance on Monday continued its attacks against the positions and patrols of the occupation troops and allied South Lebanon Army militia in the occupied strip of south Lebanon.

On Monday afternoon, Lebanese resistance forces attacked with heavy machine-gun fire and rockets Israeli moves in al-Jamoussa position and destroyed its fortifications at Nan position. The Lebanese resistance said that its forces also attacked Israeli mechanized troops in the outskirts of Beer Klab position.

Meanwhile, resistance forces attacked with heavy machine-gun fire and rockets, the occupation troops and SLA positions in al-Qantara, Mashroun, al-Hardoun, Beaufort, Belat, Barachit, and al-Rada. Direct hits were scored on the Israeli fortifications, the resistance said in a statement. Further resistance reports said that Israeli occupation troops bombarded al-Hajir valley, Litani river bed and the outskirts of Froun town.

At dawn, the occupation artillery shelled Majdal Zoun in the western sector of south Lebanon. The bombardment was accompanied by mopping up operations. Security sources said the bombardment resulted in damage to properties and orchards.

The Israeli occupation forces also shelled several villages and towns in the Western Bekaa and al-Nabatieh districts while Israeli warplanes carried out mock raids over vast areas of south Lebanon. Lebanese security sources said that Israeli heavy and long-range artillery shelled the towns of Barachit, Majdal Suloum, al-Qaideyeh, Majdal Zoun, Kabreikha, al-Hajir valley, Litani river course and al-Zater mountain. The Israeli shelling was accompanied by heavy shelling targeting the roads and areas leading to these towns.

Meanwhile, Israeli warplanes at low altitudes carried out intensive mock raids over the villages and towns of the western and central sectors of south Lebanon and al-Nabatieh and al-Tuffah districts. The Israeli warplanes were intercepted by the Lebanese army anti-craft fire.

On the other hand, the monitoring committee for implementing the "April Understanding" is due to meet today at the headquarters of UNIFIL in the Lebanese border of al-Nakoura village. The committee will discuss two Israeli and Lebanese complaints on the killing of a Lebanese citizen and wounding of his brother. Israel alleges in its complaint that the resistance opened fire at an Israeli patrol.
