Oman - India fertilizer project gathers momentum
Oman-India, Business, 6/1/1998
Minister of Commerce and Industry Maqbul Bin Ali Bin Sultan said the Oman - India chemical fertilizer project in Qalhat wilayat was making good progress.
Under an agreement signed between Oman and India last September, the fertilizer factory will be set up to produce 1.4 million tons of urea and 330,000 tons of ammonia per year. The joint Project Company will have Oman Oil Company taking a 50% share and two state-owned Indian companies, Rastriya chemicals and fertilizer (RCF) and Kribhco evenly dividing the rest of the company's $277 million equity.
Maqbul said progress had been made on the financial side of the project and said he expected implementation of the project to gather speed.
He also said there were good possibilities for support services coming up in the wilayat of Sur as a result of Oman's rich gas reserves.
