China calls on Israel to eliminate Middle East bottleneck

China has reiterated its call for Israel to show more flexibility to take the Middle East peace process out of its current impasse, of 15 months.
Spokesman for the Chinese Foreign Ministry said at the conclusion of the visit made by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to China, that Peking is not a mediator in the Middle East peace process, yet desires to use its good relations with the Arabs and Israel in order to "give the Middle East peace process a push forward."
The spokesman added that China hopes that "Israel will respond to the appeals advocated by the international community and to take a much more flexible attitude to take the Middle East peace process out of its impasse."
