Trade discussions between Libya and Egypt
Egypt-Libya, Politics, 5/30/1998

Foad Galal, Egypt's ambassador in Libya, confirmed yesterday that, "The anticipated visit of Libya's Colonel Moammar Gaddafi to Egypt during the coming days comes within the permanent coordination between the two leaders of the two countries in different international and Arab issues."

Galal said efforts are being exerted to activate trade and economic activities between the two countries.

The Libyan leader will arrive in Cairo on Tuesday for a nine-day visit to Egypt, during which he will hold discussions with Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak and high-ranking Egyptian officials. The talks will include the developments in the Lockerbie issue between Libya and the UN, as well as methods of lifting up economic sanctions from Libya.

Gaddafi's discussions will also tackle the peace process in the Middle East, methods of confronting the Israeli position toward the Arab states, and economic integration between Libya and Egypt.
