Kuwaiti deputies want a Gulf National Security Council
Gulf-Kuwait, Politics, 5/30/1998

Members of the foreign affairs' committee in the Kuwait Nation's Council (parliament) suggested establishing a Gulf National Security Council comprising the six member states in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).

The Kuwaiti deputies disclosed this suggestion at the end of a Gulf tour in Qatar under the leadership of Abdul Aziz al-Adessani, the head of foreign affairs committee in the Nation's Council.

Committee member Salah Kharched told ArabicNews.com that the target, beyond calling for the establishment of a Gulf National Security Council, is to discuss frankly political, social, military, and economic issues.

Then he pointed out that this target was one of the Kuwaiti delegation's targets for the GCC states.

Meanwhile El-Adessani said that the Gulf states need a National Security Council in order to show their solidarity, adding that Kuwait is not obstructing Arab solidarity.
