Palestine, Politics, 5/30/1998
In a meeting held in Ramallah lasting until early this morning and headed by Palestinian President Yasser Arafat, the Palestinian government called on all countries of the world to support the call by Egypt and France for an international conference to discuss the halted peace process.
In a statement, the government said, "We are asking the international forces to stand by the Palestinians in their right to establish their own state with the honored Jerusalem as a capital."
The statement also asked peace-loving countries to assume their responsibilities and impose sanctions on the Israeli government.
