Arab League praises Polish call for Palestine to attend cities conference
Regional-Palestine, Politics, 5/30/1998
Ambassador Said Kamal, assistant secretary-general for Palestinian affairs at the Arab League, met today with Poland's ambassador in Cairo, Griezgo Fadporesky, where Kamal praised the position Poland took at the Krakow conference of historic cities, the Polish understanding of the Arab viewpoint and the Polish position calling the Palestinian delegation to attend the conference.
He said that calling on Palestine's delegation to participate in the conference made the Mayor of Israeli Jerusalem, Ehud Olmert, refuse to participate in the conference, adding that Arab League Secretary-General Esmat Abdul Meguid accepted the invitation he received from Poland's foreign minister to visit Poland, but they had not yet specified the date for this visit.
Moreover, Cairo received a call from Poland, as it is the current head of the European security and cooperation organization, to attend the meetings of the organization, expected to be held in Vienna on June 7.
