Pope John Paul II confers with al-Azhar delegation

Pope John Paul II has expressed happiness over the signing of the agreement between Vatican and al-Azhar on setting up a joint Islamic-Christian committee.
During his meeting today with the al-Azhar delegation, the pope described the agreement as a new step on the road of continuously consolidated relations between Muslims and Christians. He stated that dialogue between religions has become a must more than at any time before. He added that the joint committee has a lot to do to achieve its set objectives.
