Shamseddine: Israel is a hostage in hands of Lebanese resistance
Lebanon, Politics, 5/29/1998
The head of Lebanon's High Islamic Shiite Council, Imam Muhammad Mahdi Shamseddine, confirmed the correlation of the two Lebanese and Syrian tracks in the peace process with Israel.
In a special statement to ArabicNews.com, he said today, "I don't accept Israeli withdrawal from the Golan without withdrawing from south Lebanon, because we saw that division creates the problems and everybody has to learn from the Palestinian lesson."
He added that now Israel is a "hostage in the hand of the Lebanese resistance" that worked on dismissing the legend of the irresistible army, building on the success achieved by Egypt and Syria in the October War of 1973.
