Iraqi information minister: Arab states oppose continued sanctions on Iraq
Iraq, Politics, 5/28/1998
In remarks to the Egyptian paper El-Ahram today, Iraqi Minister of Information Hamdan Abdul Khaleh said that most of the Arab countries are against continuing sanctions on Iraq and desire to ease the Iraqi people's suffering, whether by lifting the sanctions or easing their restrictions.
He stated that most of the Arab states agree that continuing the sanctions is no longer the United Nations' will, yet it is something that expresses certain policies of some great countries' political interest, therefore resisting it with legal procedures is legally allowable.
