British Airways to convene conference in Damascus

British Airways will hold its general conference for the Middle East and North Africa for 1998 in Damascus on Sunday, May 31 through June 3. It is the first time the company has held its conference in one of the region's countries.

A delegation representing the airway's general administration in London comprising 37 officials and 193 representatives from its branches in 18 countries, including those in the Middle East and North Africa, is taking part in the conference.

British Airways travel agent in Damascus Nashaat Sanadiqi said that Damascus was chosen for the conference due to the position Syria enjoys among the countries of the region in the political, economic and tourism fields as well as for its promising future prospects for a to revival of tourism.
