Hamas not to transfer headquarters to Damascus
Palestine-Syria, Politics, 5/26/1998
Founder of Palestine's Hamas movement, Sheikh Ahmad Yassin, has denied the transfer of the movement's headquarters to Damascus.
"Hamas has representatives in all Arab states," he said, and expressed thanks to all Arab states for their support "to the Hamas movement and the Palestinian people."
In a press conference held today in Damascus Sheikh Yassin voiced support for the idea of convening an Arab summit to discuss elements to foster Arab solidarity. He called upon Arab states to unify their ranks and liberate occupied Arab territories.
