Syrian VP: Peace process deterioration not a surprise
Syria, Politics, 5/25/1998
Syrian Vice-President Abdul Halim Khaddam stated, "The peace process' deterioration on the Palestinian track was not a surprise." In remarks today to Egypt's El-Ahram newspaper he said that the whole peace process has reached a dead end and that its rescue is dependent on the Arab states.
He added that the peace process' current situation is complicated and "requires us as an Arab nation to understand the Zionist goal clearly, realize the goals of this goal within what has happened in the past, and what is currently taking place, what we should expect in the future, and to work on establishing the Arab project."
