Mubarak, Arafat meet on Middle East peace process

President Hosni Mubarak of Egypt on Sunday in Cairo received Palestinian President Yasser Arafat, who arrived Cairo earlier in the day accompanied by Nabil Shaath and Saeb Erekat.
Foreign Minister Amr Moussa in statements to reporters following the meeting that he attended said the proposal drafted during the talks between President Mubarak and his French counterpart Jacques Chirac in Paris last week, was aimed at salvaging the peace process from Israeli policies.
Moussa added, "The idea behind this proposal is how to secure the peace process because of the failure it is facing and the deadlock it is in. It is aimed at discussing the grave situation that Israeli policies have created in the region."
